Please check out my new track 'Army of Darkness' and post your comments here!!!
This is the first track i have uploaded here. Its a drum and bass re-working of a song i used to play in a death metal band!! Hope you like it.

army of darkness. figuries it was a metal band for that.
that was repetative. you kick shouldn't be deeper than the bass. need a kick that's got mid on ti a bit not just a 808.

Hey finally another producer with a death metal background - right on. Where are you from? (Isn't Samoth a band?) Love the opening sound - pure evil, the little starts and stops go on a bit to long. Perhaps with that evil sound behind it, it could be tied together. Are these programmed drums? Pretty damn nice. Panned left a bit too much. Once the drums finally drop there should be some sub in there. Also sub has too much reverb on it to be punchy. When the big grimey bass comes in again it takes too long for the drums to drop, and perhaps change up your snare sound at least for the drop - something a bit punchier - try adding some distortion. Maybe a bit too much reverb on the drums - or at least try messing with your hi cutoff. The little drum stops at 5:18 don't work. This sounds kinda like you are going for a tune like Fog off of Hardleaders Suspect Package - nice choice. Good delayed ending. Vary the sounds - both bass and drums a bit - try using two different drum lines and alternate them. Don't exactly see how this is a reworking of a death metal song - but cool and very dark nonetheless. Try reworking the drops, panning and re-post. I'll be tuning in for more dark tracks bro - all the beast!
A couple of my tracks posted, some a while back, have a death metal influence also: Titan(can you name that vocal sample metalhead?), Fuck with my Eardrums, Kindling [remix], Krk head and the second half of 3 min. buildup. (actually now that I think of it, most of them do!) Many parallels between these two types of music, for sure.

Cheers for the response. I know its repetitive, just need to know which bits to cut.
Yeah, i programmed the beats, i *love* ReDrum. I have a major problem tho, no sub. I cant actually hear the sub bass lines in most shit. I have to guess and then take the track to my girlfriends house cos she has a sub, its quite a walk and it means i have to burn a cd every time i want to check the sub.
Nosrac, it sounds like you have the sound i am tryin to achieve, couldnt name the titan sample tho. tis a phat track none the less. I will give ur shit a proper review in the near future.
Samoth is the guitarist from emperor btw. (not me, its almost thomas spelt backwards!)

Simple but nice..
That intro drum is too long imo, love the way it drop at 1.20, and the second bass is sick......
The track is good, bit more power somehow, add xtra drum and the reverb is a bit too strong imo, need xtra atmos but stuctur is ok.
Hard to work on a sub bass if u don't have one.......Some creative speak are cheap and work well.....

Ya the vocal sample on Titan is not death metal, but thrash - Exodus off of fabulous disaster - started the tune after seeing them open for megadeth here in toronto (kinda a shit concert compared to Napalm Death, Misery Index, Deicide, Krisiun, Canibal Corpse and others I've seen this year though). Nosrac is my last name spelled backwards.

Intro is very dark, nice drumteasers. Takes a bit too long before it drops though.
Drop: quite nice drums, but why is the snare so much to the left?
Sub is very deep, but maybe a bit too loud.
Reece coming in: nice reece!
Again it takes a bit too long before it drops.
Drop: would give more impact with some nice amens or smthing like that
Very dark track with very little elements, making it a bit overlong and repetetive.
2.25/5 for the track
2.25/5 for the sound
