goin' a lil off-topic here dudes?
Personally, i still like win98SE the best; too bad i can't run CubaseSX on it.
About the chopping, i just recently found out wavelab has this nice "autosplit" function.
That's all.

Fruity Loops 5
new slicer tool, cuts up samples automaticly, strechs, can play each one different pitch, cut and res. works with mp3 and wavs.
can tune the auto tune, or use zero-x or what ever the program is calle,d if you dl it, for a better external cutting tool, frankly you can use anything and just link it, mostly works.
but the best part is the speed, and you can get it cut off at the zero point or the part before hand, so it's pretty smart. with most samples it's simple as anything.
fill between, and pitch can be globably changed.
only down side is that it doesn't show the clips entire length when placing them, and could be different sizes, but will cut off the sound for a shorter key stroke.
i dunno, seems to be good enough to make a quikc break, just cannot lable the slices, so you know what it is until you play a note, but it's easy to memorize.

very cool for drums, and chopped beats as well is oldskool method --> trackers, I am currently mostly using renoise / www.renoise.com / it has built in sample editor and tracker itself is something like huge /and imho best/ sampler. So when I have loop I cut all
drums innit, and make renoise instrument, when work is done I am able to create complex groove long for example 30 seconds very fast, almost realtime.. It's much better then mouse clicking in nowadays sequencers.

Synthesised drums sound... to synthesised. A 909 is good for trance and techno, but it just doesn't work for DnB...

oh yeah man.......live recorded drums are the best for drum n bass.......even if you effect em all to hell.....it just sounds better than white noise given a sharp ADSR, some reverb, and mild distortion. Reminds me of those old Casio keyboards.....boop tchk..boop tchk TSSSS

ok, i think i got it but just one more thing: What about using some sound from a good synth ( as i use reason, i've notice some snare and hit hat in the synth bank) Probably sound crap as well.... I'll stick to some "real" drum loop in dr rex
thanx guys!

well don't hold yourself down with ONLY real drum sounds.....sometimes you can get the perfect sounding hi-hat from a synth.....if that's what you're looking for

Try layering drummachine hits under your sliced break
It certainly adds punch to the whole thing

a simple drum layer, maybe a bit dead with filtering, and then a live, or more lively, going at the same time. not great for everysong, but can add spice to some tracks. hell modulate them ?
