Please check out my new track 'Beat Down to the Nitty Gritty ' and post your comments here!!!

This was a song I wrote for a live band, as will be apparent. When I realized it was going to be difficult to get enough musicians (mainly a complete horn section) together to give it a try, I decided to attempt making a drum and bass version on my own using Cubase. Again this will not be everyones type but lots happens in this tune with melody and time changes. The vocal sample is from a live Steely Dan concert (uncopywrited).

instantly feelin this one... got a moving fusion sound to it
this intro is really solid man, i really want samples like this to create some live sounding intro's - i'm getting fed up with digital sounding intros these days
the synths are doin it for me bro, luvvin it...
breatz could definetly do with being louder, bring em out man show em off!!!

good amen work at the start later on it could be louder..

yeah, the lead synths are excellent 3:35, alot of variation as you say but it works and suits the track

nice filtered slowed down break if thats what it is..

once again you didnt fail to impress me Bigup

4/5

sort out the beatz n eq and can i hear it afain??

peace
G Bigup

This is a happy melodic tune, not at all my typical dark style and some of you are going to hate it - but hear it out 'cause I'd like some suggestions. (The static during the opening is part of the sample - irritating yes - could a limiter or similar eliminate some of this on an individual audio sample without muffling the vocal any more than it is?)

Gangsta Intro Big Grin Big Grin Big Grin Totally feelin' the intro dude.. maybe a bit too loud.. but ha, if it wouldn't be night outside, i'd be listening on full power Big Grin

Nice beat entrance.. Hmm.. the beats seem to be with a bit too many kicks Shocked , imo it'd be better without those. 2:10 = HELL YEAH!! I love this kind of dNb, lots of melody there, everything's moving and hapenning, omg, totally into it, awesome. Nice instrument too, ogmomgo awesome. After 3:14 i don't really like the beat :| Later it fits very well though, god, i'm putting this track into my fave list Big Grin Big Grin Big Grin Funky shit at 4:30 Big Grin Nice end too.

I'll give 3.5/5 for the start and 5/5 for the main part/end. This is 100% my style and this is the kind of dNb i would gladly be listening to all day long :> (This type + 'bse - arrakis' type) :>

Keep 'em comin'! Hope to see another track with this style from you soon Pleased

didnt really like the intro. the drums seem too be just kick and snare and not enough symbals and things in between. As soon as the high synth melodies come in the song sounds much better. the melodies are really cool. kinda like fletch on acid. Bigup

Quite nice stuff again, but some sounds and melodies don't have that DnB feel to it.
Also, you overdid the reverb on some sounds a bit. Especially the drums have too much reverb imo.

Quite good production, but not that good a track (for DnB, that is, too housey)

2.5/5 for the track
2.25/5 for the sound (mostly too much reverb and hi end is slightly lacking)
