when producing in flstudio 4, and i render the project into a mp3. even when i use 256 sinc depth and make sure all the settings for quality are on high, when i play it in tracktor or any other player - the leves sound alot different, normally less bass and too trebly sort've sound
any tips on combatting this problem apart from buying a new soundcard!!

i doubt it's your card, try rendering the project as wav, and check wether the sound is still bad.. mp3 really does strange shit with your freq spectrum..

might wanna check the sound setting for your computer. try running it with volume and wav all the way up and adjust the final gain at the speakers or amp.

yeah, i have noticed a difference in sound quality between say, tracktor and windows media player
my track always sound better in tracktor but there's still an issue unresolved.
