I don't know much about HPs, but I guess the non-flat frequency responce is quite normal.
I have these: http://www.headphone.com/layout.php?topi...ctID=0020080497
The Frequency responce curve seems a bit better, but they're so much cheaper I guess they're not as good.
But for a lil bit more money, you can have some nice passive Alisis Monitor One Mk2 speakers (like I have) wich are very good for their price and should help you out for the moment. And you don't HAVE to play them loud

I know I don't have to play it loud but to passive monitors I have to buy also proper amp and friend of mine will give me good price about 170$ including tax normally they costs 240$ with tax here.
question is if low-end speakers are better then high-end headphones.. ?

don't think you can go wrong with the akg-model... i don't really know/heard that one but akg have an excellent reputation.
Im the proud owner of sennheiser HD 600 for my latenight sessions. They sound amazing imo. very 'spatial' (ruimtelijk/analytisch). very comfortable to wear for long periods (i sometimes even forget i have 'em on untill i trip over the cord
).
I have to say that i always check shizl in the morning out loud (no headphones)to make adjustments.
i agree with Surya that you might wanna check proper monitors (like the one's he suggested) instead of headphones.

I agree with you both, but I don't think that for 200$ I will have really proper monitors. I will still have mine speakers and hifi to check my work, altough I can't trust them too much becouse their quite cheap.

Well, I suggested the cheap monitors coz I just can't master properly on headphones. I can do it on cheap monitors though.

its not ideal to master on reference monitors or headphones. I master on my club system outside in my backyard
but i havent done that in a while. it really does work good but what a pain in the ass. Im getting ready to move back to california and when i get there ill be spending a bit more to get my studio room dialed in proper this time with a set of high end hi fi speakers for mastering and my ref monitors.

well, mixing on PA is the best solution of course, but quite unreachable for most people

why not a pair of technics...120$ HP's that are top notch...i dont know much abotu details...but theyre loud as f*CK and are awesome for monitoring...but if you are looking for somethign to master on , dont you think studio monitors would be best?

I wouldn't master on PA's man, they don't have flat curves so you could end up with unwanted frequencies

well actually until now, I was using technics rpf300 and you are right that they are quite loud, but that's not the point of good studio headphones. They are more usual for Djing but their frequency response and detail and analytical possibilities are much lower then in studio headphones.

Just so we are clear here, there isnt a pro mastering engineer out there that masters on ref monitors. dont ask me why cuz im not to sure but i just know that they dont use em. ref monitors are for mixdown and production. I think it might have something to do with the low output but still i am unsure about it.
maybe the chronic could shed some light on this.
