How should I intrepret the production ratings on the tracks?
I first thought you could just change it to a 1/10 mark, like a 1 is extremely bad, 2 is verry bad, 3 is bad, 4 pretty bad, 5 is unsufficient, 6 is sufficient, 7 is good, 8 is very good, 9 is extremely good, 10 is the top.
But lots of people are giving of 3/5, when they think a track is good, but that would mean it'd be a 6/10, and that'd be pretty odd.
So what is the rating where you should be happy?

Lol, I've explained this a few times before
What I wrote then:
quote: |
1/5=-5.5/10
2/5=6/10-7/10
3/5=7.5/10-8/10
4/5=9/10
5/5=10/10
It's not rocket science, but it's more something like that...
It comes from the fact that most tracks are good enough to get at least a 5/10 score. That would mean that you'd hardly have any tracks with a score between 2.5/5. That would also mean that you have only a difference from 2.5/5 to 5/5 for a rating from just good enough to exelent... which isn't very acurate. So that's why a score on 5 is done differently, to allow raters to give more acurate scores for at least 90% of the tracks. |

that's why i don't like rating songs........just telling them if it's good......or what's wrong with it......or my opinion on the snare.......stuff like that.....people get big heads if they get 4 star ratings on a song that needs a lot more work

yeah people do tend to overmark tracks
i'll even hold my hands up to that one
i keep forgetting that we should be giving critical sometimes negative reviews, as it is these that may help or prompt the producer to take note and apply it on their next project.
we're here to get help more than applause.
i think we should still use the current rating system, but everyone have another look at it and use it properly
anyone agree or anything???

Dunno, don't remember very well, but I think it wasn't too bad
But the fact is that people do rate tracks higher than they should quite often. They say: not very good, 2.5/5.

i think it should just be changed to a 1/10 score.
and then on things like
vinyl potential
technical rating
sound rating
mixdown+mastering rating
musical rating
then get the final score out of those scores
