How many RAM you got? with 512M you can stack LOADS of modules in 2.5..
It would be a pity if 3 should be notably slower.

I have 512MB... That's why I was so surprised to see it is so much slower. I had noticed that too with the beta version when I tested that, and it has improved with the final version, but not that much...

Nah, ram is surely not the problem, reason only takes about 60-70MB when running... But my CPU load is mostly around 80 to 100%
So I need a faster CPU!

yea, should upgrade soon. but more ram doesn't hurt running more applications. smoother play backs.

I've been running reason 2.5 for a while and i just get my hand on the 3.0 beta version but i haven't noticed any changes in the cpu usage....
I've got a 2.5 mhz athlon with 512 m of ram and it didn't broke....
Can't wait to get the final version, the mastering unit looks awesome...... sweet!!!! and the combinator as well but some studies to do on it......

Well, I must say I'm using the Combinator for about EVERY sound I make, it's just much more structured in the rackview, and the assignable knobs make it very easy to control a lot of stuff without having to do it with each unit seperately. Very nice in fact!
I must also say that the combinator is so handy since it got my midicontroller knobs assigned automatically in a very logical way, so I don't have to set that up either.

i don't find any trouble with the speed of reason
even better. it's quicker, smoother and yes the samples DO load faster.
but i guess it's true... 5xxmb ram machines are becomming standard. i run a 2gig machine. no troubles there.
the combinator is far out one of the best things happend in my music experience.... awesome tool, such possibilities...and i only tried it with samplers yet... did one test for drumlines... seemed to work too.
i never had any complain about reason (maybe xcept for their non willing to implent vst/i -attitude)
but now using the combinator and mastering suite as my standard work file now...i can only say
propheadz... i luv you guys even more.

gimme one better way of learning music than disecting presets mate? presets only give a slight view of what is possible with a machine or sample combination.
but you learn lfo, res, adsr, in no time.
if these noobs are willing to learn, sweat, even hate their tools, ...the mind carries the will

oh ya, why have a program that can do it, when you can force them to buy another that has rewisre, thoes making it more profitable for other people to include the ReWire module.
with that little aspect, you can use VST's.
VIRUS IT.

In addition to this we have received reports that under some circumstances the application requires more processing (CPU) power than in earlier versions. We are still investigating this issue. |
Told ya, thats my problem...
