Here's a trick to get that "tube" sound for less than 20 euro's.(no expensive tube equipment needed!!!!)
A ringmodulator is a device that will add and subtract the frequency's of the input signals. So when you input 300 Hz and 100 Hz it will output 400 Hz and 200 Hz.
And when you input 300 Hz and 300 Hz it will output 600 Hz and 0 Hz . The input gets doubled ! This is the second harmonic distortion witch tubes are famous for.
This is how you aply it:
You need two signalmixers and one ringmodulator.
Input your sound into mixer 1.
Input your sound into mixer 2.
Input your sound into ringmodulator.
Output of mixer 1 into ringmodulator.
Output of ringmodulator into mixer 2 (this is the amount of harmonics added to the original sound)
Output of ringmodulator into mixer 1 (this is the amount of feedback)
This "patch" creates subtle air to ultra ultra distortion and everything inbetween.
Here you can findout other useful aplications and how to build a real ringmodulator.Real Ringmodulator
I used 10k : 10k trafo's and germanium diodes total costs less than 20 euro's

Don't think that this patch gives you real tube sound. It only creates even harmonics but its realy cool (well I think so).
