OK on special request from B-Complex I'm gonna get down and dirty on this one. This review is done on an extended version of this track which is not available for download here, but it applies to the version that is online here too, although the buildup is not the same.
First of all, I'm very satisfied with the production quality overall, and it's nothing less than a dancefloor killer, I can see all the massive jumping up when this would be spinned at a party!
OK here goes...
Top end is a bit overdone IMO, it would suit the track better if the bell ride, hh and especially the ride in the loop (extended version 0:44) weren't so sharp. A darker tone would suit better I think.
I really like the pedal hh effect in the intro.
Kick drum is compressed really hard, but that is OK in this case, makes it really mean and dangerous. A bit of distortion is noticeable though, sounds like you have a cheap 'mix bus', maybe you use fruity loops or other cheap software?
The bass is really fat, it's sometimes pushing away some other sounds, I would tailor the EQ a bit, but it's hard to tell what it needs. Maybe you can just leave it like it is, bass is main attraction in this track imo. Kick drum pushes through nicely.
The pitched down voice that answers the 'are you the hunter?' line should be a bit louder to bring it on the same level.
The other main attraction is that lovely gliding lead sound with the exquisite filtering on it, it's goddamn beautiful!!
If I mixed it I would make it a touch louder (+3dB) and occasionally move it in stereo, eg when it comes in again after a break. Effects on the lead are very good, very dynamic.
The break at 4:36 (online version 4:14) is
The small details make this track wonderful, I discover more each time I listen (like the 'ho!' shouts in the beginning...
)
Programming is ace, buildup is very good too, but I'm not an expert in judging buildups, you should ask one of the DJs on the board.
Mixing is good, and you've mastered dynamic mixing well, using little fades throughout the track to shift the focus. Not many producers see the value in this, bit it really makes a difference between a good production and a top production imo.
Mastering could be better, some pumping audible, some more serious artifacts (eg compressor release at 2:56 (online version 2:34) - the kick that introduces the break affects the high end very much here, adjust the level of this kick to circumvent this). Some clicks, eg fast drum break at 3:36 (online version clicks around 3:14). BTW this drum fill is super!!!!
Experiment a bit with the amount of reverb. Maybe if you lower the reverb on the bass a bit it will improve, maybe not. There's a massive amount of reverb but it isn't really disturbing anything.
See if you can accentuate the sub a bit more when it plays alone at 5:54 (online version 5:31), make it a bit more upfront.
In the very end the attack time on the strings make them sound like they are cut off, this can be made more fluent eg by increasing the release time, so the notes blend in better with the previous ones.
PS review and quoted times are applicable to the new extended 7:06 minute version. When I compare these two versions the intro in the new version is even better with the floor tom / bell ride / hh added. And the HO! voices

yup, very nice indeed. it has all the elements to set some floors on fire. The more i listen to it, the better it gets.
Not too sure about the choir-things yetn artisticly speaking, because the production is top notch, but this only stating the obvious. You're starting to get quite a reputation... Meaning next time you post some tracks, i won't be discussing eq-stuff, cause it's all good.
Drums are top.
I do get the feeling there's a lot of distortion involved (drums+bass), causing some conflict between the harsh, dark and sinister beats and the dominant choir-lines with a major/optimistic/sunshine-breakthrough-feeling, if you catch my drift. Otherwise put: Coolio's 'Gangsta Paradise' isn't that far away, not to offend you off course, but it reminds me of that track and frankly, i don't like that. But that is the only minor, and i want to stress 'minor' point of critisism that comes to mind.
Lots of variation, lots of twists and good eq'ing make this a verrrrry good track.

mmmm new track of the month contestant!!!!!????
headphone review.
dont like the rittm of the squaky sound int the beggining but i love how the bass gets out of it filterwise. nasty. creepy vocalssssssss. bass glides really cool. sub bit louder perhaps? beats a bit less high . cool variations in breaks bridge drop very gregorian
.trance sound is a bitt less iin my opinion. smashing dance floor-pogo-wise-with elbows and fists-bloodeverywhere-track. great production for the rest. you should make a complete psy-core remix. else I wanna give it a try
.good song
4/5
cheers

Very good track. The bassline is a real killer! 100% Reason again?
The melody with the high gliding sound is sweet, but I would prefer another sound. But that's personal offcourse.
The vocal is really nice and sinister too

I love this track.
1)too many distorted elements and hard to focus
2)busy all the way
3)what reverb unit did you use? It kinda blured the image imho.

i listened to this earlier...like the chronic said, the hi end is a bit too crisp---he pretty much hit the nail on the head as far as eq issues and whatnot...heavy tune, any way i could get a 320?

Brilliant. re you going to put it on a vinyl?
The high sound wouldnt be the beats fault its to do with your synth hitting against the other high frequenceys when leaving the speaker. This may prove to be a bit of a prob. But a minor one and a very very good tune, and worth a release.
