Please check out my new track '%%%MOXA%%%' and post your comments here!!!

Right quite a different style of D'n'B for me here it's the first track that iv'e made by what i call trance influenced ( even though i dont like trance ) i thought i'd try doin somethin different to what i'd usually produce...i'd say ive gone for more of a formula based type track, simply because it's the fist attempt.

This is far from finished to how i want it, and there's levels to sort and drums/percussion to edit and ambience etc...etc

So make of it what you will and as always any comments good or bad are welcomed....cheers

Electro :D

Don't hear any trance influences, but anyway let's review!

Some problems with the sound:
- drums sound weird, hollow, especially the snare and ride. Use mono samples!! You have a widening effect on it that screws it up. Never use any widening effects on drums!!
- high end is way too soft, the hh in the beginning is barely audible, the ride and tambourine are also too soft
- kick needs more balls
- main lead is nice (love saws!!) and you do some excellent filtering on it, but it needs more oomph!! You should add a substantial amount of low end on it, that could make up for the lack of bassline.
- strings in the beginning sound nice, but have too much reverb
- pad in the end doesn't sound well with the rest of the track
- track needs some compression

The musical idea is very good imo, love the melody and the filtering, drums are ok, buildup isn't bad but it just needs to be mixed better!!

I've quickly run it through some shitty plugins to give you an idea of what I mean, I pulled up the bass and compressed it a little. I also tried to make the snare more mono but that was nearly impossible. The high end is screwed because of the cascaded mp3 encoding so ignore that. Have a listen what a difference it makes if you add some more bass to the saw and how the compression affects the loudness of the track. Check here

Very slick bassline. Sounds a bit digitall, but still nice! Lacks bass though, and sub...

Drums sound thin and hollow. I guess you used shitty samples. And add some decent ghosts to make it roll more. And where's the kick? I really can hardly hear it!

Not bad as a concept, but it does need a lot of work

2.25/5

yeah tranzzzzyy sound intro. bass is ok. melody's kinda poppy. filtered sound is cool but it doesnt fit with the other bass sound. what you filter at 1.40 is better more sharper screaming filters. Beat is ok edited. bass kick isnt present enough. snares is too much panned to the left (or the right depends on if i'm wearing my headphones right). needs a lot more variation in modulation of the sounds. ad a sub defenitely. and use more other sounds. aswell basses as atmospheres.
2/5

cheers

First of all i'd like to thankyou for the reviews peeps some good thoughts from you Bigup , and secondly big thanks to the chronnic for takin the time to give the example of the tuffer bassline and compression, at the moment i am not set up, meaning im having my room done at the mo and i set up my computer and only have a shity pc subwoofer attached to my speakers which is giving me nightmares in the overall sound department, im having to use the bass boost on it to even hear low end...a point that the chronic made is the widener on the drums...i'll take note to never do this again and to use mono......i cant thank you guys enough for the help, now i must go away and work on this.........cheers

and by the way i think this is a great community to be involved with and it does it's up-most to help and support it's members, i thinks you deserve a pat on the back....and thats not in any way me trying to "ares lick" anyone here but i think its something that had to be said Bigup
