And what "culture" is that? The whole western world has a very simular consumption-culture, the differences are minimal, and adapting to them is easy. I probably like as many things about living in Belgium as I dislike. I really wouldn't call it "local" culture, since the whole western world has this culture, and is exporting it very quickly to other parts of the world...
Also - please explain me, why the f*ck should I be proud of the fact that someone or some team that by accident happen to be born or live in the same "country" as me won something, did something nice, or be sad/angry that he/she/they lost something or fucked smth up? Sorry, I don't know them, I don't like being a "fan" of something/someone. I can respect stuff someone does, but he can live on the other side of the world, and that wouldn't make any difference for me at all. I certainly am not going to be proud because he lives close to me, what's the point of that?

Indeed. I fully second KoFFiE on thisone. Why should I be proud becouse Everts is world champion again? I didn't contribute anything to it, so I shouldn't be proud of it.

imo
Its more like highly respecting someones efforts, like being a fan....like being a 'fan' of dnb(artists)...
but there are of course many different subcultures...musicculture,sportsculture...and so on

Sure, but a lot of people are proud of their country simply becouse someone who accidentially happens to have the same nationality has done something great... and that makes no sence imo!

But if someone like Saphir, Surya, Akura or any belgian producer on this board makes it to an internationally acclaimed status and has releases on multiple labels, wouldn't you feel proud?
Not only because you (vaguely) know those people, but because you share the same interest.
If you're not interested in Everts, then offcourse you won't be proud when he reaches the finish backwards-with-champagne-glass-between-his-butt-cheecks-and whistling-the-national-anthem. But i think you will be proud when it comes to mutual interests.
