Does any one program synths/drums in cubase SX using a midi keyboard and auto quantize.I can't seem to get it to work properly.For example if I'm quantizing to the nearest eighth,then all the notes are an eighth ahead of where they should be.I don't hear any latency what so ever,but I don't know what else it could be.

you have to play really tight
quantizing's a difficult and especially timetaking task
try quantizing on a smaller scale (1/16 is usually the trick unless you have fast runs over 32's
)
quantizing moves your notes to the nearest 1/8, always problems with some notes that aren't in their place. plyaing ur drumlines on a keyboard doesn't seem like a good idea tho :?
well yea, each his way

up you mean
turning sensitivity down to f.e. a quaver makes that there can't be a line of notes faster than a quaver,
think the best thing is look at your score, take the fastest run and set the sensitivity to that value (ex. a piano part with a couple of fast arpeggio's on 16th's -> turn it to 16th's ... etc etc)
still programming beats with a keyboard doesn't seem like a fine way to make beats though ... take your time to program those beats in detail, definately here in drum&bass ...

Try recording without auto quantize and check out the notes you played in the piano roll. It can be some kind of latency problem (eg with old game port midi interfaces). If this is the case you'll see that every note is too late, even the ones you were pretty sure you played dead on.
You can also do the quantizing afterwards, you get more control over it that way, since you can quantize a number of notes, play it to see if it is ok. if it isn't you can undo and move the notes manually.

If it's a latency problem, install ASIO drivers for your soundcard. If none exist (like with my card) install ASIO4ALL. I got it to work pretty fast with a latency of 20ms (I had 185ms before I installed it) which starts being quite playable.

the main thing is.... what are you trying to quantise it to.
its a bit advanced but it is possible to set up your own quantization rythmes.

Yes it was a latency issue.Idecreased the buffer setting in my audio interface(from 1024 to 512 ) and now the auto quantize works beutifully.Thanks for the help guy's.
