Rabid hails from Christchurch, Aotearoa aka New Zealand; He started mixing in 2004 after attending a party called Alpine Unity. His DJ'ing influences came from when arrived back in Christchurch in 2000, whilst on leave from a overseas deployment with the New Zealand Army. He ran dead smack into the thriving DnB scene which had cemented its self into the culture of Christchurch. With Ed Rush & Optical being the first gig he went to, Rabid has always had love for the darker tech sound. In 2008 Rabid started GCA Radio. The show has always attracted a good following as Rabid always brings an up to date selection of the dark tech sound. Currently GCA Radio is broadcasting every second week 0100hrs - 0300hrs CET.
This mix encompasses the sound Rabid loves the most about the current state of tech Drum & Bass, dark minimal heavy bass lines, tight hard hitting drums and atmospheres that get into your head. It’s an excellent reflection of the GCA Radio show but don't be surprised to hear a lot more minimal 170 bpm and amen tracks if you were to tune into the show. To end the mix Rabid has included a couple of Dubstep tunes. Broadcasting since 2001, jungletrain.net is a 24/7 drum & bass internet radio with ~50 LIVE shows a week. With ~100 DJs from around the world, the station showcases a variety of styles and sub-genres, with a focus on the deeper and more "subverted" sounds of drum & bass.
PROMOMIX SERIES
The jungletrain.net promomix series has been published monthly since December 2004. Each mix showcases a different jungletrain.net DJ, offering a taste of his/her show on jungletrain.net. Starting in October 2009 the promomix series began to also feature an occasional special edition "engineers" mix, featuring dubplates and unreleased tracks from jungletrain.net producers and affiliated labels.
