The past few months I'm trying to make some neurofunk/technoid drum and bass. Now it's fun (and hard) to make but I'm planning to buy some hardware, I'm tired of clicking an dragging with a computer mouse. I was thinking about some midi stuff, but now I'm interested in some "real" hardware. Are there any good synths for sci-fi sounds and leading synths? Or is it better to stick with some software synths? Maybe software based synths are more up to date, but hardware seems so much more fun. What do you guys think?
Most neuro (99%) is made using software these days.
Don't invest in hardware yet.
The hardware isn't going to make your neuro bass.
I'd buy a Virus synth later on if I had to buy hardware.
Most people on here only use software.

I've heard top tunes made in FL studio, Reason, Cubase, ...
It all works. Just make sure you get the best synth in the business for such purposes: Massive. When using Reason you should use Thor.
Check youtube for tutorials on how to fuck up your bass and practice practice practice. Rome wasn't built in a day.
I know the dark moments where one thinks: "I use the wrong tools" or "I am never going to figure this out"... just do something else for a while and then get back to it. If you are passionate enough about making DnB you'll get there.

in reason you can also make some chunky reeces using multiple malstroms (3 normally does the job, all saw waves but detuned by different amounts)
also making a nice basic reece sound in your soft synth of choice is a good starting point - to get that extra depth and movement you can resample your sounds into a sampler and twist it into a more "neuro" sound from there (search resampling on this site, there are a couple threads)
