using FL9XXL demo, i saved a project as an mp3, but it wont open in Windows Media Player or Media Monkey.
is it 'cause im using a demo?

Possibly, check the limitations on the demo version for further details.
Try Winamp to play the mp3, if that fails too your mp3 is rubbush.
