Got this done in 2 days, went for a different approach on this, i mixed out at a higher level and gain staged with various compressors and put about 1.5db thresh on a limiter. Sounds pretty much spot on, not much to nag about I'm not a fan of them bells, but that's taste, they "pitch bend" a little making them flirt with going off key. But every so often, id say about once a month, i come across one which blows me away. This would be one of those tracks. I would be very suprised if you couldnt get on a major label with this, and i'd say youll definitely have it with a few more like it. Yes tis true there is only 3 notes (mainly) being played with different insts, there is another melody that i put together and is in there but gets lost a little in the mix. I didnt want to get too technical with it because it was flowing so well and i wanted to get it wrapped as soon as poss (i get bored with my own stuff easily) This is the best one to date i think mix wise and i really appriciate all the great comments but for me not commercial release material yet. Like the melodies - makes it sound like something heavy is coming. Didn't like your transition to the drop - thought you could have done something much more creative - more suspense. You're basically repeating the same melody/pattern over and over - which is OK, but to raise the bar I would definitely switch into something else (in Join the dots by Sub Focus, he has his drop and then switches to a kind of syncopated version for 16bars and then switches back - have a listen and you'll see what I mean - maybe try that). Love the arps and the general texture of the tune. Love all your little drum fills and build-up kicks - maybe layer some louder fx over those transitions also. I would also raise the attack on the kick and snare as much as you can to make the drums really sound like they're being hit hard. To make the beat stand out more, you could try subtly sidechaining the kick and snare to the percussion so you get a little dip when the drums are attacking - this means you can raise the level of the percussion by at least 2db without drowning out the drums. I would also eq the snare less in the bass range and have more bass in the snare so you get a fatter sound - contrary to what these online tutorials say, you DO need bass in the snare otherwise it sounds too thin. Also try a hissier layer (in the snare), but stereo, and a little reverb on it - then mix down and control the tail of the reverb with a gate or with a fade editor.
