Please check out my new track 'I'm Nothing, I'm Everything' and post your comments here!
When I thought of this tune I was passing by a McDonalds during my weekly bike ride with my friends in Long Beach. I started to hum the tune in my head "bada pa pa pa" and for some reason I began to think about maybe playing the tune in a different key. This is what I came up with. I may have rushed it but I think it sounds pretty good.
I Deffo like the bass, and the hats are coming after that together with ride. Great variations with drums adding the loop. I like the fx, sound like in Smash Tv by Chase and Status. Also i like the melodies. Great work
Big ups!
Hi, I really like your track. The structure is well in place, the sounds speak to each other and the pitch is very well tuned exept some sub notes downpitch maybe(ex 2:05)but its close enough.I think you need to work more variations on the drum starting at around 2:00, mostly the snare hiting offtimes would be good to me, and id like a ride replacing the hihat later in the song (alto your open hihat capture some of that lose effect early in the trak), add some fx, delete some of the mexican 'sitar' cause its good but it becomes really thematic and a litle too repetitive for 5min, or find a more 'serious' sound to play the same notes at around 3:00 would be really nice it would really justifiy the 'low-fi' effect of that sound who is a litle minimalist and sarcastic i think but realy good for intro. last thing that i can think of that i would really like and i think its whats missing in the the mix, is a pad, some sort of soft synth filing part of the empty space, i would only add the pad at 3;00 or so , to give a big refreshing to the trak and surprise the ear who might think everyting is yet in place, before that add some more fx and hits to fill some of that space in the mid tones. Alright i hope you find someting for next session, i wish you a good inspiration my friend and keep making good drum and bass, Cya
Love the intro loop, very well made mate! WHOAH nice drop too. Filthy bass, nice mixdown, bravo sir. Bravo. The sound effect @ 1:20 needs turning down it hurt my ears! I could definitely get another 5-6db out of it for you?
zombeat: Yeah hehe it was difficult getting the sub tones to match but I did my best without making it sound too off. Thanks for your review you really took your time to examine and review well. Good first POST!
welcome to .be as well!
BattleDrone: glad you love the tune! I know i rushed the tune a bit because I finiished it in a matter of 2 nights. I didn't really take much time to go over it but i felt that it didn't need much tweaking.
doolhoofd: haha AIDS!!! Thanks man! Glad you enjoyed the tune. I was afraid there'd be a lot of repetitive parts.
Skinley: Thanks for the kind words man
I'll see what I can do with that effect. To me it doesn't sound too bad but i'll check it out
I thought I rushed the tune because I did it in a few hours... I guess I was on musical crack haha. Plus I was out of town and not much to do.
I appreciate all the kind words everyone! Since i've upgraded to Ableton i've been able to expand my horizons. Thanks for all the support through this past year.
Crash for the into and get a pad swishing and pulsing behind the drum pattern in the beginning to fill it out. Reminds me of goldeneye for N64 playing on turbo mode in the temple. I really like everything this track has going for it and especially that really mellow guitar sound that is haunting and melodic. Amen break roll is nasty. Snare needs more punch and drums need to be more prominent in the mix to keep the rhythm moving. Arrangement is satisfying and really well done IMO. Nice reece at 2:50! Has a lot of ideas that appear later on in the tune that could be introduced earlier and arranged in there more fluid. Great use of minimalism! Keep working at this one as I love it.
Yea great tune man, Really like the subtle variation in the drum programming. That one could easily do the rounds if you pass to a few headz. Try sending that one to Candie from #dnbradio
Was wondering if U would mind sending me this trak on mp3, Not gonna lie I would play it out but would make sure to mention U if any peeps asked who it was!
