i know you all get this a lot, but im in need of help with making neuro bass. kind of stuff noisia and phace use.
the kind im after is heavily automated, and from what ive seen to make this tearing bass a lot of producers are using FL studio.
Ive switched from reason to ableton to cubase, although now im sure its not about what DAW you use, so first questions this... why do many neuro producers use FL? is there something im missing?
anyway, ive been a producer for about 3 years, learning all my tools like compression, eq, limiters, etc, etc but im still not getting the desired results. im kinda at the end of my teather.
im looking for an in-depth tutorial on creating that tearing bass, prefubly a youtube tutorial as i learn better visualy. but text would be good also.
please, if anyone out there can point me in the right direction, give me links to tutorials, tell me what i need to learn id be most greatfull.
the only GOOD tutorials i can seem to find are these ones
Get Massive VST.
Learn how it works (youtube is your friend).
Create your own sound. Don't copy because you'll sound like a clone.
And even if a tutorial is in Russian you'll still see what he does. If you don't understand what he does you don't have the knowledge it takes to control the subject of neuro basslines.
__ Check my soundcloud (exclusive tracks on there)
On The Grid (Dogs on Acid) there were some very good tutorials by Spinlock and also Loachm (Can't remember how to spell his name) but these you can search for yourself.
EQ's + Distortion/Overdrive + Filters and Flangers (DONT LEAVE THE FLANGER ON ITS DEFAULT SETTING OR ILL SHOOT YOU) + Creativity in an order that makes sense.
i dont make neuro basses, but i do make dubstep basses.
i use sytrus for this (yes fl)
what i do is find some nice waves (usually square and 2 saws detuned for a starter)
run em true a low pass filter, automate them into straight forward wobbles.
after this add fx, and tweak it untill u like it.
after this u can start automating the shit out of it.
remove the straight forward wobble thingy (as this is sucky) and mess around with ur filter,
also resonance is ur friend for filthy basses, but dont overdo this, as it will sound like high pitched farts, and nobody likes high pitches farts as bass...
also eq'ing and compressing can do alot.
and if u wanna do like noisia: resample
just mess around with it, and youtube things or google.
Hello all, Just wanted to chime in on this subject. Youtube and other places can be your friend when learning to use your software or hardware but one of the biggest lessons I have learned is to not go after detailed instructions on how to make certain sounds. The reason for this is because most of what I have learned has happened in the process of trying to figure these things out myself. By the time I learn how to make one kind of bass, I have created 2 or 3 others that are just as sick and unique to myself. If I would have had detailed instructions I wouldn't have learned shit. "There is a difference in knowing the path, and walking the path" I can't say enough for how important this is. I know it's frustrating sometimes but if it was easy, well you know.
