No bass?
Nice sample collection, don't put all the samples in one tune though

first snare lacks some punch for me, the vocal-samples you used dont really fit together, missin bass, pads, melodies or stuff like that. for me this is more a skeleton of a song, to be filled with an idea...cheers

go easy on the generic vocal samples! for now its fine, but eventually you'll want to start digging for more unique stuff.

You don't have a bass in here?

I like your sfx & there's some nice break work here at the end.

I'd suggest watching some tutorials online about making a drum & bass tune. Start with how to make a Sub bass in your DAW, b/c dnb is all about the BASS! When I was in your shoes I didn't get too hung up on making my own sounds or beats from scratch. Instead, i relied on GOOD QUALITY samples & worked on things like structure, editing, EQing, mixing...

I'd also check out the "Samples" section on this site, b/c there are a lot of great things there to get you started. Basses, breaks, etc. Things to get you going. This is what I did when I started producing. Its also important to learn about structure. Listen to your favorite d&b songs & notice the reoccuring themes: intro-drop-stanza1-bridge-drop2-stanza2-outtro. count measures / bars to get a sense of how long each part typically is.

invest some time & you'll get there Wink

hope this helps

I don't understand how you can fuck up such a basic rhythm...

Hey Ulli. Make sure you have your drums sequenced in the way you want as currently something is definitely out of time. Also try some bass. Try to think about 16bar phrases also. I.e. First phrase (intro), second phrase (build-up), third phrase (drop). This is just one way of doing it. All the best.

Add some bass, even a simple bass line would make this sound better. Neat effects at 1:11, again...it would be nice to hear some bass with this. Samples are very useful but you should try not to build your entire song with them, on the other hand using original sounds can be very frustrating at first. overall this isn't bad for your first track.

Hi mate,

The tune doesn't have any bass/melody, the drums are just kick and snare(and only breaks towards the end). You should use two or three layered kick/snares a few breaks, hihats or rides, shakers etc. Most of the time you are just throwing random sounds, without any effects on them, here and there. Like you just wanna show us your sample collection Big Grin
Also don't use only the samples that come with fl studio. Search for more unique and better sounding ones. You can type in google "free sample packs" for example.
But before all that you should go to youtube and watch lots of tutorials. That way you'll learn the basics. And also read the whole production section it rly helped me.

Cheers!

-Snare can use some compression
-FX and samples can use reverb, exp the vocal samples
-for your samples you got too many different ideas going on, try to think of a theme and pick samples that match your theme
-keep at it brutha
