You can spend ages looking for the right vocal to fit into a tune. What you don't want to do though is avoid doing things that you need to do, like using vocals in tunes. Trust me, I know. For years I didn't understand compression (I'm still no expert) so I avoided it. For years I didn't understand panning, so I avoided that too. Eq'ing - same. Musically, if you're not so good at something, then that's what you need to focus on. Generally though, most vocal sample packs are a complete load of tosh. The best vocal samples (IMO) are either samples from films and tv, or vocals you record yourself. Keep pushing.
