Voxengo SPAN is a free VST that does this for you.
If you are using FL studio you can use EQUO to analyse the frequency range.

f*ck that sh*t - GET AUDACITY.
It's free and you can do some miraculous things with it. I've taught myself, using Audacity: wave inversion and how to use it for sampling/remixing, phase cancellation, effects of things such as FM or phase subtraction/multiplication, approximate frequencies for each of the 12 notes in the 3rd octave on a synthesizer/keyboard, emulation of synthesised tones by .... etc

oh, and you can also load files into Audacity that aren't .wav files/general sound files - I loaded my music software into it; Audacity changed the data for my software into sound. Instant Sci-fi FX.

Hi guys, it's an old post but I bring it up again as this issue seems unresolved to me. I also use Reason, and its spectrum analyzer (through the use of the vocoder) is very poor.
I use WaveSpectra which is very fine, but not real-time, i have to save an audio snippet and then open in wavespectra. I assume voxengo would be the same, i.e. real-time spectrum analysis cannot be worked out in reason (apart from the vocoder) beacause reason doesnt handle Vsts. Reason users, how do you manage that? I mean the spectrum analysis. Apart from that reason is just fine.
I am a newbie and love the forum
thanks for your ideas

@ Ciaran - I have used Audacity before but didn't find an analyser?
@ strangexperimen - I've googled Pinguin Audio Meter but can't find a Mac version. Is there one?
Thanks to both of you
