Hello dnb.be heads, right, I'm thinking of getting an internet radio station up and running, I'm willing to pay the running costs, hosting etc. and was wondering if anybody on here would like to contribute anything, knowledge and DJ slots. I'm not too familiar with how broadcasting internet radio works or rights and restrictions. Any information any of you may posses will help a lot.
Would anybody be willing to play a slot at a set time and day?
Is there anything I may have overlooked?
This idea pops up every 2 years or so.
It has been thought over and over and upto now no one did it.
I'd suggest your go and DJ on some existing radio for a while to see if you can deal with the stress of delivering a show every week.

I'm suggesting a new radio station, and looking for someone who can assist with the setting up and running.
I'm sure there are a lot of people on this site who have a lot to offer and even more that would like to broadcast a set every week. It would also give people from the site a chance to get their tracks aired and as more listeners tuned in up and coming producers would get acknowledged it could potentially bring more members to this site.
The idea has so much potential and I'm not surprised it has been mentioned in the past. Have these people gone on to make a station and had it been successful?

Believe me, TuffDread, sir, it is stressful! But it is a great idea. I don't have any ideas as to how is to be run. All I know is that you need to buy server space, so you can stream to people without troubles.

I'll do a weekly set if ya want dunno how this would work though what with everyone pretty much living in different countries and not having a local studio
That's the great thing about internet radio!
You download the software and broadcast from your location.
You send a stream to a server which then streams it from there so a lot of people can tune in and listen at the same time, which a standard connection couldnt cope with.
I'll look into getting a stream up and running if people will be able to fill some slots.
The next thing is, the name, of site/station, any suggestions?
I host a few shows via shoutcast. Its pretty easy mate. You can set up autodj for when noon eis broadcasting as well. Best one out there (Although one of the most expensive) is livestream.com, but there's also plenty of others that are just as good for pretty cheap with less options. Im down to host a show as well.
Just to keep people informed, I have found a place to stream and got my head around it all. I'll be registering a domain name and designing a website for the station. Does anybody have any ideas for a name of the site/station? Any ideas what to include on the site or should it just be a basic page.
I would be willing to do regular sets if that's any help. I may be able to get some mc's on board also if that was needed.
Have got a friend who runs a trance dj/podcast website which is going really well.
What about GlobalDNB FM? or Global Beatz FM. Just some ideas.
The way my friend runs his site is by recording a mix and then uploading it as a podcast to his website. All users do is find the site and press play. If they want, they can download the podcast for free. His site is getting very popular. I think he said he is getting around 6000 downloads a week.
Yes, Pace and Mr. dLO, the station is still an idea and the names are a start, I can see you wanna get involved which is good, every ides has to start somewhere. Where abouts are people from? England? As soon as a name is agreed on I'll register the domain. And the podcast idea solves the problem of commiting to slots and maybe a live show once a week, from a set dj? DNB Pod.com
