might seem like an odd question, but i've been doing tunes on and off for some time now and have had this burning question for quite some time. for anyone who takes the time to listen in on my tracks, what is it that i could do to take my tracks further. like, they seem to always be lacking in something that i can't quite put my finger on. what could i do to make them more enjoyable to listen to or make them more catchy. i guess this is one of those questions where i'm more interested in having it put to me straight. like, my tracks are just flat out boring, sound like crap, repetitive, etc. i'm kind of to the point where i'd like to take my sounds even further and make them more catchy and listenable, but not sure exactly where my tunes are lacking. but my tunes always feel dry and empty, but can't figure out why.
so, sorry if this all sounds like a bunch of random crap, but i think it's time i really get dirty here and start taking criticism. preferably bad. i know, sounds messed up but i want to pinpoint my weak areas rather than just good stuff.
thanks in advance.

Well the best thing to do is make more tunes. And more tunes. And more tunes.
Now for something that might actually be helpful.
When making tunes I try to keep in mind that there's no need to hurry. Why make a crappy tune in 3 days if you can make a great tune in 3 months? This sounds easier than it actually is.

you know, thats actually a simple yet so true statement. i think thats one thing i could always do is take more time to finish tracks rather than pump one out every week or few days.
i'd also be curious to see if i would need to use more synth work, more vocal samples, or different basslines, etc. like do my sounds always sound the same, is it bland? i know this is probably a pointless question but i just really feel my tunes are lacking, and i feel like even though i took so much time off and came back to doing music again, things haven't really changed since before.
but i think maybe i'll just start with taking more time. that would be a good start.

Your tunes are pretty fine man... I wouldn't change a lot. Especially the new batch is really convincing. I love the way you manage to keep the tunes identity from start to end without being overly repetitive.
I tend to feel uncertain and unhappy about my own tunes because I can't be my own audience, I know too damn well what's going to come and I focus on things I would have liked to be different. When I hear someone else's tune I don't hear all that, I just hear choon and that's that.
My best tunes were made in like 4 hours and then I did a couple of mixdown takes afterwards. When I have to mess around for weeks it will not be a good tune. I also tend to get bored very fast so working on the same tune for days in a row just isn't me.
So make more tunes and even more tunes like Puzzle said and stick to your style because I love it.

thanks man, that made such perfect sense. i totally agree about spending more time on a tune and getting bored of it. i can only hear a track so many times before i just get blahhh about it. i know i've tried to take more time on a track in the past but that didn't seem to work before. i'd start finding myself getting frustrated and tire dof hearing it and i think thats what made me turn up so many half finished tracks.
maybe i should, just for testing purpose, try and make a speed track . like give myself one day to finish a tune and see what it would sound like. i never tried it, but it would be interesting.
but i'm glad you do like my style and i guess that kinda makes me feel better in many ways, well, with the points you brought up.
maybe it's just a self conscious thing. like you said, you know whats coming up and it doesn't have as much an impact like it would have for a first time listener.
but thanks for your words and thoughts battledrone.
