I bought one a year ago and wrote a little thing about it. If you're wondering on why people still bother with those bulky things, or have been planning on getting one yourself, check it out!

I'd also be interested in hearing how you have used a hardware sampler in your productions if you happen to have one.

I read your review, and, even though I would probably never buy a sampler, I found it interesting.

But working in a DAW (FL Studio for me) is far more powerful in my opinion. I guess you get to push the sounds way more than in a DAW because it introduces analog distortion when doing so, and because the real headroom limit is a few decibels higher than written there, giving you some room to breathe and ensuring you get a nice sound.

But I would find it bulky to use, especially since I compose the melodies in my tunes, and don't sample full melodies etc.

I use FLstudio too, and only complement my production with the sampler. I dont use it as a main ingredient in my home studio. And working with software is far more faster I admit, that's the main reason I don't use the sampler more.

Also, composing melodies doesnt have to render a sampler useless. I rarely sample melodies into it either, simply just single hits or even synth notes. You can just as easily write melodies with it - just as you would with the fruity sampler channel.

Thanks for checking it out.

I have an EMU 6400 Ultra which I use and I love the sound I get from it. It holds a great tone with it's filters and it's reverbs and FX sound really warm and lively. I use it with a good audio interface with DSP and gains to compensate the conversation. Overall, a great machine!

I used it for my last track I made entitled "Jailtime"
