Ez
Just thought id say ello
to get the vapour bass sound:
u need to layer your bass sample ontop of itself 3 times in a sampler (Kontact being my choice) so you trigger all 3 samples with one keyboard note
first sample - low pass filter - cut off at 200hz
second sample - BP filter - cut off at 1k
3rd sample - - HP filer - cut off at 2k
run to 3 seperate channels on your mixer
compress each if needed - i normally comress the sub (LP cahnnel) so its as flat as possible (no spikes when different notes are played and the same vol is achieved where ever you play the keys)
i put a bit of modulation on the BP channel - chopper VST - just to give it a bit of movement ( normally about 50% wet/dry)
on the hp channel i use heavy distortion - i have about 6 different devices i use (not all at the same time) so this changes from track to track , i put heavy distortion mainly on the 2k - 4k area
also normally add reverb ot the HP channel to get some ambient HISSssss
i then push all of the 3 channel to a new mixer bus channel so they are all controllable from 1 mixer fader - sometime i add more distrortion, compression , EQ (graphic) to this mixer bus channel to affect all of the 3 sounds as 1
for source samples i use 909 kicks more than 808 as they are sharper - timestretched to lengthen or use a 909 synth plugin i found(not saying what that is hahaha but there is plenty out there) to get a phat sound
i would then do the above process on it untill i get the sound i want - lots of resampling
the key at this stage is resampling and adding more distortion
sometimes i will resample a bass sound over 10 times to get a source sample - splitting it each time as above then putting it back together as each time i add different fx to it
big up
