Please check out my new track 'I Know' and post your comments here!
ez chaps
another lil "future/2step/garage/breakbeat whatever
they are calling it this week" track.
not much has changed from the original soundcloud version.
apart from shortened the intro,
raised the main vocal a tad,
and pushed the mastering process a lil more.
there is dust and crackles on each of the layers to the beat,
as i wanted an old vinyl feel to this one.
im pretty happy with this as it is,
its long enuff to mix in and out of a set
and thats about it really
enjoy peeps.
peace
mej

Very good, you nailed the style. Most of it just sounds a bit odd, lo-fi and badly produced, but that's the whole idea behind it. It has the same beauty as a pair of worn off jeans or old and dirty sneakers.

I'm digging this a lot mate. all the layers fit perfectly. Nice intro pads & vox especially. I am a little torn on the snap-crackle-pop. In general, i like the effect of the old vinyl feel, but IMO it kinda goes against the more up-to-date mastering you've done. maybe the vinyl feel is something you bring in in the intro / bridge or dumb-down the mastering to give the whole thing that dubplate feel. Just my thoughts. Overall, a real nice tune.

cheers danny m8.
dont you think that modern digital music is a bit too clinical and sterile these days?
i really miss the static hum of vinyl 7/12inch.
what id like to do with this is cover the whole thing in dusty treacle toffee lol,
the fx has been "toned" down with this,
coz i know some of you guys would'nt get to grips with it.
my personal version of this on my "pod of i" is real messed up fx wise
but i love it like that and its one of my favs apart from the mighty burial.
not everything in this genre needs to be superdooper clean
just slightly "distressed" but still observing basic production rules of thumb,
start clean, get it grooving, then smear the "treacle " over the top.
this fx wouldnt work in dnb tho not unless you where going full on stripped out minimalist vibe, but then youd have to do a lot of dust layering to get the depth of the fx on each element.

The lofi crackly sound works well - especially with this genre - with the nice pads and the high vocal creates an oldskool feel in a new skool genre - nice combo.
At first i thought the drum samples were a bit odd - but acctualy fits in perfect for the future garage vibe.
I'd probably low pass filter the reecy bass sound just so it sounds a bit more subby n dubby like the other bass sounds - thats a minor though.
Nice work.

yea, almost every genre is too clean these days. Some of my favorite records are my crusty old 7in's.

swirls
nice drum rythm - drums sound like they are in a box - kind of 'contained' which is a great touch!
the sneaky bass comin in gives it a nice evil edge
the peppering of vocal samples really suit the track
top drawer!
laid back grooves with a razor sharp edge

Nice man, it has indeed that crackling feeling of a dirty old vinyl and a hot warm bassline.
Well done
