The tune "I need air" from Magnetic Man is the first massive chart success for Dubstep.
Magnetic Man is a trio: Benga + Skream + Artwork

Now more chart success will follow and this trance-dubstep style will be all over the place.
Is this the beginning of the end?

Well I don't think this is the beginning of the end for dubstep, I'd hardly call this dubstep?!
Wasn't bass an incredibly important element of dubstep? I thought so at least...
This has a completely different rythm too because of the synth, you can't really dance to this like you'd dance to dubstep.
I really can't stand those vocals either, yuck!

Edit: well I heard it on the radio too this morning, it's not that bad in fact but as said, not really dubstep

Bump thread because I wasn't wrong back then.

Every freaking pop tune nowadays seems to have beats in a dubstep signature and there are even moderate bass sections.
Disgusting in a disgusting way.

The good thing about all this is that DnB is more popular again, but it's mainly the hospital stuff which is basically to DnB what the above mentioned tunes are for Dubstep, they have a flavoured topping but underneath there's a cash register instead of a heart.

I was very enthused by Dubstep about a year ago, as it offered fresh ideas, but it's being misused so fast in so many ways I've mostly lost interest. But since then my interest in DnB (not the Hospital stuff Wink ) has been revived. Good thing Big Grin

Good morning' Just signed up here this morning... Personally I don't think this the end but just the on going evolution everybody wants their own style. The only way music takes off or dies is because it either was flooded with groups that all sound the same, or steps it up.
