So, I'm out of CD's and was going to buy me some new ones... But I want quality, since I don't want to lose my precious data...
In the past I had Taiyo Yuden CD-R's, which are known to be among the best available, but the shop charges ¤10 shipping... so that's too much, so I did some research on what brands are safe, and which are not.
Maybe this might intrest you guys too

http://www.cdmediaworld.com/hardware/cdrom/cd_quality.shtml

Somewhere half way there's a list of brands with quality indication.

Hope it helps!

take care then, as far as I know *all* burned cds will loose data after several years Frown Shocked
I don't know how much years this is however...
When the IT'ers here at work want to backup really important stuff, they do it in triple (3 seperate harddisks, of which all data is copied to new hds every x years), and I assume they know what they're doing.
No medium is unaffected by data loss you know..

Indeed, but a good CD-R should, if handled well, keep your data safe for 75 to 200 (!) years. I've had CD-R's that lost data after less than a week...

The list mentions Imation & Sony as being a manufactured by Taiyo Yuden. You can find those in a lot of stores, so it shouldn't really be a problem.

There is one, which was recently developed. It is said that it last for more than 3 hundred years without data loss. It is made of (I think) metal plate, 13 layers, and the data is printed on its' surface. Cannot be erased (except with a screwdriver scratching on its' surface) or rewrited, so it is real CD-R.

It has a form of a disc, 12 centimeters in diameter. But it doesn't hold digital data, for now, only typen, and drawings.

But, who said it would not? Wink

Just to add a comment Wink
