B*City Foundation is proud to present you :
Forest Freeparty part II
Tree City Celebration

Date :: 30 July 2004
Location :: Hingene, Bornem (precise location t.b.a. soon...)
Entrance :: A smile or a kiss...
Line-up ::
Eye-D & Dj Hidden (Ruff-teck, Fear, Semiconsious Media, Genosha)
GamorahSound (Pukkelpop, Dedkob)
Sense of Necessity (B*City Foundation, AK)
Akwiezz (B*City Foundation)
Eye-D ::
Eye-D is a Dutch DJ/producer who spins and produces both drum 'n' bass and hardcore. This results in some unique flavoring for both of the genres. Eye-D plays straight sets of each style, but he's also one of the few who will go so far as to mix the two styles up in what has become known as a "GabberJungleWar". Expect his drum 'n' bass sets to be hard-edged but still very effective on the dancefloor. Eye-D's hardcore sets range from slow to faster material, with a dark feel resounding throughout. An often heard compliment about Eye-D's sets is that they work well even when played to a crowd that normally isn't into either hardcore or drum 'n' bass.
Eye-D started out as a producer in 1992 and didn't get serious about DJ-work until 1996 when a promoter asked him to play a DJ set at an event in Amsterdam. Although he had done live PAs before, Eye-D initially wanted to stay away from spinning, but he was instantly hooked after his first set.
While spinning is a big part of his life, Eye-D is still mostly a producer at heart. Because of the diversity of his projects, spanning all spectra of drum 'n' bass and hardcore, Eye-D is signed to a wide variety of labels: Piruh Records (The Netherlands, drum 'n' bass); Ruff-Teck Records (The Netherlands, drum 'n' bass); Mokum Records (The Netherlands, hardcore); Def Wish Records (UK, drum 'n' bass); Coolman Records (The Netherlands, hardcore); Fear Records (USA, hard-edged drum 'n' bass); Ghetto Safari (USA, hard-edged drum 'n' bass); LowRes Records (USA, hardcore); Semiconscious Media (USA, drum 'n' bass); Black Monolith Breaks (USA, drum 'n' bass), and Kultbox Records (USA, experimental drum 'n' bass).
DJ Hidden ::
Messing around with tape recorders and turn tables at a very early age, playing various instruments but never wanting to practice, typing in thousands of peeks and pokes to produce the most horrible 4-bit sounds, borrowing friend's computers to run now ancient audio software, dubbing alternative music under existing videos and throwing gigs with home stereos.
A childhood filled with experimentation led to the first serious demos in 1995.
The tapes were picked up by two labels: Mokum and Coolman. Teaming up with partner in crime Eye-D, as "X-Factor" and "The Outside Agency", the first records were put out a year later. Both releases were quite successful and resulted in more labels becoming interested in the duo's music. With hardcore taking a happy detour, other genres were thoroughly explored, resulting in various joined and solo projects. A semi-experimental breakbeat release under the alias "The E.L.F. Architect", released on Medcom, saw the light of day. Together with the rest of the "Beats op Je Fiets Crew" the now classic "We Eat Tulips for Breakfast" was unleashed on an unsuspecting drum and bass crowd, still recovering from the ragga curse that had been keeping the genre firmly in its grip until then.
From that moment on, DJ Hidden's prime focus shifted more and more in the direction of drum and bass. Although hardcore was never completely deserted, distorted breakbeats became the main ingredients in his work. Further adventures onto this continent of musical darkness produced records for labels such as Fear, Theoretic, Semiconscious Media and Ruff-teck.
GamorahSound (Wasp, Panzar, Sprout) ::
The idea of forming a drum and bass collective emerged at the end of 1999. At the beginning it took some time before it found it?s way and came to the form like it is now. It was when Panzar met Wasp and started dj-ing and making some beats together that the first steps where taken into the direction where gamorahsound now is. About two years later they hooked up with their youngest member, called dj Sprout, and formed the crew they are now. Things have gotten quite different since then, stages got bigger, sound systems got meaner and dance halls got more crowded.
GS are not just a team of dj's, it's a group of people who are passionate about drum & bass and are uplifting the whole Belgian drum & bass movement. Their dj-sets are usually long back to back sessions where every dj gets to play three tunes and then passes the decks to his fellow crew mate. This gives them the chance to vary their styles and, where needed, complement each other to set maximal pressure on the crowd.
They put in the same amount of effort in every set for any event, small or big? They like to play!
Sense of Necessity (AK-Fighter, Skamz, Chakra) ::
Sense of Necessity is a crew of three sparkling fresh dj's who go by the names of AK-Fighter,
Skamz and Chakra. Their hard and rugged style combines them and their slight differences makes S.o.N. remembered by all who saw and heard them.
Antwerp based AK-Fighter and Chakra were formerly united under the AK-Crew, which played lots of small gigs in Antwerp. From time to time Skamz started to join these 2 dj's and soon enough, forms started shaping into what we now know as Sense of Necessity.
An upcoming force almost impossible to ignore.
Akwiezz ::
Spinning about one year, Akwiezz is a fresh young DJ, who plays mainly raggajungle. His interest in music and his anxiousity to keep up with a scene that isn't easy to keep up with is extraordinary.
Because he's a newcomer to the dj-thing, he is very driven to prove his skills and to make the crowd go wild on his reggae-based beats... His record collection however, isn't restricted to raggajungle. When the time and the vibes are right, Akwiezz dares to mix some dark and breaky d'n'b.
Playing raggajungle or drum and bass, Akwiezz makes it a night where the drums just keep on banging!

Had a good time. Soundsystem was very nice, so was the music
Was kind of exausted after the Gamorah Sound boys, but then Eye-D and Hidden started dropping some heavy shit. Really heavy shit, and top notch mixing
This wasn't for wussies! Man, they almost killed me
Only met Stykz, was there anyone else there?
