Propellerheads will surprise us with some new toys at the end of the summer.
First one to get a makeover is the Dr.Rex loop player, which is probably known by most dnb producers for its great ability to slice and dice those breaks.
The Dr.Rex will disappear completely, and be replaced by Dr. Octo Rex.
A Rex based loop player, featuring 8 loopslots, a shitload of filter options, and the same old trusty Rex feel.
i cant wait 4 reason 5 the new dr octo look like a sick version of a slicex can't fookin wait kong also looks like a good bit of fun see this is why reason doesnt host vst's, coz now all us propellar headz are on the edges of our seats waiting after just catching a glimpse of what could be

i do like kong tho,
but,
(here we go someone will have a work around for this)
sorting out kongs velocitys in the sequencer on over lapping hits is a bit errr
i.e.
i have a snare and a hat in the same place in kong
(3/8ths of a bar in, the usual place for a dnb snare),
if i adjust the hat velocity it changes the snares velocity too.
so question.
any way of isolating each hit in kong so i can mess with velocitys without effecting anything else in kong thats on the same place?
(or am i just being thick)

tbh after a quick play with this im a little disappointed.
dr octo rex.....
i thought that with the 8 slots available i'd be able to play the loops togther layered on top...no i cant....you can only swap between the loop in the player.
was hoping i could contain all of the breaks i use in a song in one player and use different keyzones to trigger the different breaks but thats not possible.
Kong.....
not played with this as much but again not too impressed. all the modules are ok (bar the physical ones...they sound pretty poor on thier own)
but there is only one buss effect and one master effect which is annoying as i actually quite like the effects it comes with!
and last but not least why the fuck dont they update the bloody effects units?
they've been the same since version1.0 now and im sure im not the only reason user that would like to see these dragged into the 2010's!
