After beginning this year with banging editions feat. Noisia, The Qemists (UK), TREi (NZ), Nymfo (NL) & Netsky (B) DNNB continues the season with another big name in the current dnb-scene: SPOR (UK)!
Since february 2007 the city of Heerlen (The Netherlands - Provence Limburg, Euregion Maastricht, Liege & Aachen) has put drum 'n bass music back on their map with the succesfull start of Drum NN Bass.
DNNB has become a meetingpoint for dnb-heads all over The Netherlands, Belgium, Germany and beyond. Our stage is represented by many countries like: The UK, The Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, France, Spain, Greece, Norway, USA, New Zealand and many more to come. We don't build on attitudes or reputations, we rely on good vibes and a smillin' massive. Major artists like Andy C, SPOR, Noisia, Black Sun Empire, Dirtyphonics, The Qemists and more are part of the DNNB 3 year Legacy.
The 25th edition is headlined by UK artist SPOR. His 'Aztec'-track is a classic on dancefloors around the world. From Belgium we invited also MC D.O.C. from the former 'Dedkob Kru' and 'Maaskant Massive' DJ Mindkiller (a.k.a. DRX ). Our own VJ Loudanov will light up your night with DNNB's Bastine behind the decks to begin & close this amazing night.
SPOR - Lifted Music
SPOR (UK) - [Lifted/Subtitles/Renegade Hardware]:
Jon Gooch, more commonly known by his stage name Spor, is a drum & bass producer and DJ from Hertfordshire, England. Spor obtained his name from one of the first set of samples he collected, entitled 'Spore Tactics', and a favorite piece of artwork by a friend, Karl Kwasny. However he soon dropped the "e" from the word to balance the arrangement of letters when displayed in a graffiti style. After a school friend introduced Jon to the world of Drum & Bass he began experimenting with software to create his own music.
Spor quickly attracted attention from big names in Drum & Bass, and finally secured a deal with one of the most revered labels in the industry; 'Renegade Hardware'. Much of his work was released through this label, and soon Jon began DJing sets. He has also released work under the name 'Final Reckoning' with Codex. Spor has since then been traversing the globe playing his music at clubs across the world. After a successful partnership with Renegade Hardware and Barcode Recordings, and releases with Teebee's Subtitles Recordings, Spor and long-time friend Chris Renegade from Renegade Hardware launched Lifted Music with fellow dark Drum & Bass producers Apex, jd1043 (justin), Evol Intent and Ewun.
Spor's electro house side project, Feed Me, has also been rather successful. A two track EP has been released under Deadmau5's label, mau5trap, along with a track on Noisia's label as well.
Spor is expected to release an album for Lifted Music in the summer of 2010.
MC D.O.C. 'Belgium Finest'
MC D.O.C. (B) - [Legends Of Greytown/Therapy Sessions Belgium]:
Fascinated by the early Beastie Boys and the rawness of Wu-Tang, D.O.C. started writing in 1995. While collaborating with many other L-Burg mc's, he defines himself as an anti-average mc, fighting against the stereotypes and boundaries associated with the hip hop industry. At that same time he gets gets hooked on graffiti. He takes on the name ShoZ One and participates in several local graffiti projects. After teaming up with different writers and crews he joins Jungle Tactics in 2000. Later on that year they threw a legendary graffiti jam in the old mine buildings in Genk.
At the end of 2000 he was given the opportunity to expose his lyricism over drum & bass alongside different dj's and crews. Impressed by the energy and the feedback from the crowd, he decides to become a fulltime drum'n'bass mc. Nevertheless he remains active on the hip hop side of things. After more then a decade of mc-ing, D.O.C. became an infamous name in the Belgian drum'n bass scene.
In 2002 he becomes one of the founding members of Dedkob; a collaborations of several writers, dj's, mc's, graphic designers and organizers. They take on the scene by storm, and Dedkob became an infamous name in the Belgian and international scene. After performing at many local venues and at several bigger festivals & graffiti jam, he continues to innovate and tries to create a positive image of lyricism in both hiphop and drum'n'bass.
Right now D.O.C.'s hitting the studio with a brand new hiphop project called "LEGENDS OF GREYTOWN".
