Please check out my new track 'Barcelona' and post your comments here!
Me having a go at new school jump up.
Tried my own approach instead of just copying other people, I hope it worked out.

this is wicked. Definitely has a more unique twist on jump up. I've been trying to dial in that jump up style for a little while now, I've pretty much given up, but you nailed it. What are u using for your synths? Only think i would change is to add a little low-end. Don't know how layering your basses w/ a sub would sound, but that might help dial in that low end a little more.

I'm not a fan of the sound but you've nailed it. Mixdown is crisp and its all punchy. This would deffo go down well on dancefloors.

I used a very simple synth (3xOSC) to make about a dozen basic waveforms, mainly square waves with some colouring.
The trick for this style is to use good distortion and use some cut off filter action to make it sound "organic" or even "alive", a slight touch of wobble adds to that feel, but I don't want wobble all over the place, just a tiny little bit.
All bass sounds are sent through 2 mixer channels, 1 lo-pass 80Hz with a brickwall compressor on it for maximum sub and one hi pass 250Hz (rolling off above 4Khz) for distorted midz, I used a free plugin for distortion (Camelcrusher), added a tad reverb and used a saturator (setting nearly tape saturation) as a last step to remove grittyness on the mids. Then the channels are joined again in another mixerchannel, with soft compression and a limiter for safety.
I tried to avoid the obvious amen trap and made some new drums. Drumedits are important to keep things going so I'm going to do some more for the final version.
I'm all about progressive stuff (having a house and techno background), so I like the idea.

Ok you definately got the vibes down. I really dislike new school jump up but this got my feet tapping the floor in no time.
Crits: The kick sounds a bit 'sloppy', I'd layer a punchy/snappy hi-passed kick on top to solve this.
And also towards the end of the clip, the tune starts losing it's power with all the basses, and becomes quite messy.

yeah bdrone, some good synth sounds in here for sure.
dont like the kick, needs more punch.
snare could use another layer.
for me the synths sound good and have some diversity, drums need more layers.
keep it comin.

man thats boss nice variety of basslines. bass reminds of dubstep alot. u should layer ur snare with a lower fatter sample especially as it seems the break has a pretty trebley snare and if uve eq'ed the break properly u will have removed most of the low end. compression needs a bit of working on in my opinion drums are ganing a little too much for my liking i prefer them to be cleaner. i personally think drums r a bit loud, but im listening on headphones so not as much sub.
