When you guys start making your tracks do you start with the very beginning or right when the drop hits?
I usually start em right where the drop hits and then worry about intros/atmospherics n stuff later. wow I love the smiley selection here...
for me it depends on whether i have an idea already in my head or if im looking for some inspiration. if its the latter then il start from the drop, otherwise i like to do my tracks in smaller chunks from the start then piece them together.
I don't plan anything, just mess around and see what comes out. If it's an intro then you started with the intro, if it's a drop then you started with the drop.
I never finish tunes that were started with the intro though.

well it depends. When i'm going for a kind of Liquid Track where the melody is important i start to write a piano hook and go from there. Of course i always loop a breakbeat at first to get the feeling.
when it comes to darkstep, neurofunk ect its quite complicated because i usually don't have the track in my mind before. just a very diffuse idea of how it should sound. it helps me to begin with pads, FX, stabs and then a subbass riff as a basic for the reece.
if i start with the drop i usually throw the track away the next day if its not super fantastic. but when i have a nice intro already i have something to keep me working on it. cheating myself you could say
i usually just start with a full on beat blazin full power then try to get a har bassline goin then try to make some good sounds and bassline stuff. and if i can make that work i will start to work forwards and backwards from there.
well I usually have an idea for a melodie for example
from there I work the tune out
chop up the melodie add some bass and drums
than I'll see what comes from that
when I start making a tune without an idea it becomes a crappy one 9 outa 10 times lol
so I dont really start with a composing stage (like intro or drop, ima call it that for the moment
)
I normally just start with a drum beat or a bass-line and just work from there. I oughta try starting with the drop first though, that sounds interesting
