Please check out my new track 'Spicy Curry' and post your comments here!
this is my first attempt at dubstep style stuff. it is Nowhere near complete... i cant really make a dubstep bassline, so this is my half-assed attempt at one, but if anyone has any advice on how to make a rusko style dubstep bass in reason i would love to learn how... the mixdown is also way off.
this is pretty sick man if ur referenin to that squeeky bass that rusko makes errr listen to my latest track china plate on the break where the sample cuts out and the bass cuts in if this is what u mean i can probably help u out if not never mind lol neway nice track hear man be gud to hear it all finished up

the most helpful post ever.
what do you mean by wobbles... how do you get it to wobble... what filters do you use...
hahahhaa that was quite a useless tip lol errrm i use digital osicilators start off with a basic sine and lower it 2 octaves to jus give that solid subsound then i layer spectral waves or organs over the top 3 or 4 should do it try and get a thick ravey sound with the other oscilators i use a scream filter lowpass add some distortion turn ur lfo to sync then 1/4,1/8,1/8t or 1/16 if u feel excited these lfo speeds are quite typical of dubstep i hope this would be helpfull if i have been unclear or u would like me to explain a bit better just say what vst or synth are u using?
Open a thor synth.
- Initialise patch (right click -> initialise patch)
- add 1 analog oscillator and 2 multi oscillators.
- detune the 2multi oscillators a bit (amt) and lower the analog 1 octave.
- Use a low pass filter to get the frequency you like
Wobbles are used a lot in dubstep and drum n bass. Go to lfo 1 (change the rate as you want to)
turn up amount to full.
Then go to the lower section of thor and: - on the source tab, change it to LFO1
- amount 100% or whatever you want
- destination: Filter 1: Frequency.
the other tabs are not really usable for wobbles.
There r lots of tutorials online about d step b-lines, I liked the 1st set of beats in the intro compared 2 the 2nd b4 the drop. I would stik with them insted of changing. I thort the b line was ok, just stik a sub on it! After the drop the snare needs 2 b snappy as a mofo imo. Yea needs a mix down thou but overall i thinks its alrite
im on reason 4... i think i just need to experiment... i found some tutorials on youtube. it seems that everything i try to create sounds way to generic. oh well dubstep is cool but i think i will stick to DnB.
For the Dubstep Bass, the wobble, you need a hard noise that u bring in with an arpeggiator for example.
There are other ways, like playing with the Mod (up and down) at a slow motion speed, u record it, and than u remake the original bpm come back. Thats a way to do it..
But the best, is with Massive, a VST i use in Ableton, with Reason as Rewire for the beats for example.. Its a nice combination.
