Please check out my new track 'Untitled 058 (Unfinished)' and post your comments here!!!
It's a track that's been laying around for quite a while. I think a very early version has been posted here some time ago. The track has undergone quite some reincarnations since then though. The drums have changed (in pattern and sound) and the theme has changed completely at least twice.
Today I worked on it a bit more. I changed the break (made it more dancable, made the snare more metalic), added a bassline, changed the way things interact... far from pleased with it. Whatever I do, it sounds like shit, I cant get it to roll and have enough power to please me. The bassline is a complete disaster. That's why I made a whole new one in the first place, but it still sucks as much. So now I'm looking for some pointers from the crowd, coz I'm out of idears for thisone, and I think the main theme - that phat hoover - does have potential, so I do want to use it in some way...
Tnx in advance for the feedback!

Hmmm, changed it since then. Changed the sound of the sub, an made it more like a Universal Project bassline (long intense sub together with the snare) and I'm mutch more pleased with that. Maybe I'll upload the new version when I've done more work on it, for now I'll stick to reading your comments on this version

I like this song a whole lot. Its definately a keeper. I like the snare sound, and i like the bass line as well. You should post the finished version whenever its done, because if its better than this id realy like to hear it. Production quality is top notch btw.

Overall the track doesn't exploit its potential to the extend for this moment but there certainly is potential according to me.
The main thing that lacks for me is something that brings some melody apart from the bass line, no real extra melody I think but something that's well above bass pitch (some FX?).
Some highlights that caught my attention:
*The break from 0.30 till 0.33 is a real fine thing!
*All the lead sounds are good and have a damn good reverb/echo.
*The anti-climax beginning from 1.24 is nice.
*The fat sound on 2.40, mmmm
Some remarks, tips:
*I don't like the bass drum that comes in from 0.33 (less compression?, more natural sound?) but once this bass drum is combined with the snare I'm beginning to like it.
*There's to little variation from 1.50 in melody (only bass). From 2.11 the variation gets better. Maybe some (fairly high pitched) FX could solve this feeling...
*The break from 4.41 is a real fine counter beat but the last three metallic beats are somewhat to striking for me. Mixing them a bit more to the background or taking some less striking sounds?
I hope you can use something out of my comments. Keep on working on it

Overall i think the tracks got potential Surya, nice punchy crisp break, though i would agree with the comment about a little less compressin on the bass drum, and i'd say there could be a low end bass missing through-out the tune, alittle more variaion with the bassline aswell, but as i say it's got good potential so finish this dude!!!

Not a bad effort !
Positive side
1. Drumz have power
2. Overal sound is loud and clear
3. Nice switching between basses/leads
Negative side
1. Kick sounds too much compressed and too high
2. Way too little sub, you really got to fill out the low areas
3. The melodies of the basslines/leads aren't really original
4. Some more sounds/fx to make it more then just drumz and bass, would be nice
Altogether, a very decent effort, but it needs more

Funny you mention compression, coz there is no compression in this track at all
I already added a more hi pitched FX (the famous English Muffin hoover thingy) but I'm still not finished with that...
Not sure bout that counterbeat stuff @ 4.41 either, especially those 5 (
) snares on the end... Too much indeed. Will change this lateron...
And about that missing sub: told you I had problems with making the bass sound good. Sounds a lot better now, but still needs work.
About the FX: those are the last things I add, still long way to go
Tnx for your comments all of you, I'll sure keep them in mind!

As mentioned before, kick is to loud.
Hoover rocks - like the first drop - it needs sub indeed.
Like the overall better than your earlier tracks.

this is a serious tune man. the drums are really strong
and the synth and respective bass is kicking.
i wold probably make some variations in the synths but i´m looking foward tho see it done.

jep, the cut-up break is really cool. used by dylan alot, no? (eeuuhh, kuck kuch, which is it? can't find it here
) hoover is really good.
on thing that hasn't been mentioned before: alot of reverb on the (dilly like) bass kick in the drop, a bit too much for my likings
definetly potential

You mean the break in the intro (and that plays on the background too)? Nope, Tech Itch
The layered drums are one-shots...
The reverb is so coz it's intended as an effect, not as a bassline.
If I bring the bass back, like Emblem sugests, it will be with less reverb...

Oh, those short ones? Just a standard cut up Samurai break, famous for its great ride cymbal
Used very often indeed...
