Can anyone tell me what key on a keyboard the 808 kick would be at, sos I can map it to my sampler.

Cheers

Most of mine seem to be either a G or G#.

It can be quite hard to tell with all the pitch bending though.

Because 808s are analogue no two kicks sound exactly the same, they all have subtle differences in tone and pitch, so a kick in one might be g but in another it could be nearer to f or g#.

The only way to really figure out the pitch of the sample you're using is to tune it by ear, there is no one size fits all solution I'm afraid.

If you use reason's nn-xt you could use the auto pitch root mapper function.

Double the frequency of the drum, then you will notice the exact dominant, because otherwise the 808 is at a too low frequency range to be noticed by our ears. But if it is 60Hz for example, that is actually a specific tone or pitch. Usually synthetic bass drums or kicks are not made with constant frequency pitch, but with whoops.
