so does anyone own a netbook and tried to run reason or any other daw on it? i know it has a fucking small display, but hey the thing is so compact i could carry it around anywhere.
so?
p.s:this should be my 100th post. champaigne to everyone..
Yes, they should run on netbooks as long as you can find a way to install them. Netbooks don't have dvd/cd drives and you would need to buy an usb one. I have gotten Reaper to work on a tablet PC. It works pretty well actually.
doesn't it overload the cpu? what's the config of your tablet? do you manage to work with the screen size?
the installation is secondary. i want to see first if it would be a smart purchase and won't lead to further dissapointments. i'm thinking about portability cause i'm commuting. i would consider buyin a laptop but i already have a good pc to master my projects but i don't get to spend a full hour on it soo...
Well I don't use the tablet for music because I have a desktop that I use to produce with. I also have a laptop. I used the tablet when my laptop was in getting repairs before I got my desktop. I just worked in audio because I think that if I used vsti that it would have overloaded the cpu. I think the tablet had 256mb of ram, compared to my desktop's 8 gb.
As for the screen size of a netbook's screen 10" (that's right I am from the US) isn't really all that small.

ooh ark at her
well u need to buy ur self a usb detachable hard drive or sumit if u wanna install it as far as will it run on a net book depends on ur ram doesn't it obviously. i would suggest a minimum of 3gb of ram i dont c why u would want to load it on to one they have pissy little screen's and being a reason user myself i know u need as much screen space as possible as far as producin on the go goes as well i dont think ur guna make nething decent out of ur dedicated producin space a conducive to producing atmosphere not over the park with ur mate like hey look wot i can do arent i cool
no mate i'm not gunna buy a netbook just to show off, i'm buying it for doin sketches when i get an idea, workin on a bass line, drum patterns or somethin else. so i can put them together when i get to my main pc.
as far as google search went i found out that other people tried it and it worked fine for them. the screen is a major setback but i think i can manage it. and there are also lots of programs designed for 10". found out it can hold traktor with 4 deck, ableton with for audio tracks and 8 loops and few effects.
