How do plenty of dnb producers get that real heavy feeling on their drums do they just layer loads of breaks n then compress each sound individually and process? And how do they get them so stereo-ish sounding without being off center. Im guessing proper eq-ing is a big part of it too. Maybe dif sidechaining settings for each dif drum sound?
proper eq'ing is a big part.
kicks could be boosted a bit around 80-100. under 80 slowly cut of.
and layering yeah, have your main break with most layers done, than put a second break on it. (this one could be highpassed just to boost snare and hats a bit or boost the same parts as your drums.)
-Layering to get all elements into the instrument (Snare: Heavy oomph, puching body, white noise for edge; Kick (Super heavy punch bit for the start, nice body for the main part).
-NY compression for body and thickness
-SPL attacker for a powerful attack
-Tape saturation to make it all sound fat and full
-Split of the hi-end and add some stereo to it or better use 2 copies for the hi-end which are both slightly panned to opposite directions, then use a third copy for the low end and keep this one mono.
