Right then, I had a few complaints about certain sounds panning to the left on my last track I put up. I have just done another track and I am having the same problem. The most noticable sounds are the drums. Strangely, I have noticed that any low fequencies, like sub bass, are staying in the middle...
I have tried checking that all dials are centered, I have tried disconnecting the right hand lead on the problem devices, so the sound is only going into the mixer in mono, but I still have the same problem
Any ideas anyone?
I am sure that only frequencies over a certain level are panning. Very strange

Do YOU hear any panning? If yes, try rendering to mono and see whether your track is panned (program issue) or your windows/soundcard output is panned.

had a load of those, and always when I go all out distortion or otherwise a maximizer or a compressor is set to drive too much, thats when a sound gets panned. my guess is, that if a sound is even a tad panned to a side, when you knock the gain knobs up the sound gets squeezed and the only place to escape from overpowering sounds is to the sides of the stereo spectrum.
to remedy, and to prove that this was correct, do not detach the right hand cables, instead mono the signal right out of the device using the "monoizer" (stereo expansion device) setting it to mono the entire signal, and THEN add the effects

Right then. I think I have discovered what it is. It isn't actually to do with Reason.
When I master (using that term loosely
) , I use Reaper with Ozone plugged in. What I have discovered is that if I turn off the Multi Band Stereo imaging in Ozone, the track goes back to normal. What I also found was, that if I start maxing the setting on the imager, the sound pans even worst to the left.
You may have noticed that I said that certain frequencies are worst ie. higher frequencies, but not sub. Well this is obviously because you do not widen a sub, where as you want to add some 'shine' to higher things like ride cymbles...
I am assuming that this is an Ozone fault that Izotope will sort out in an update. I havn't checked there site yet, so they may have corrected it already. The version I have is about 2 months old. I just havn't really used it much, because I've been away for about a month or so.
Thanks again everyone.

Ozone has multiband harmonic exciter which introduces some phase delay with certain presets - namely, on high frequencies the most, if you're working with the 'clarity' assignment. You most definitely should eliminate these (right under the [amount] and [mix] sliders).

Stereo should be accomplished through good stereo samples, generators for best results.
Chorus or reverb on an instrument can also help to create stereo on a mono instrument. Some stereo enhancer plugins can be good on pads, strings, synths or percussion, but don't overdo it.
Stereo on vocals is a bit weird because a vocal can only come from one sound source unless multiple people are singing.
If you use stereo enhancing on the master it starts to sound funny because the whole tune has the same stereo applied to it and thus sounds as if it is getting played on a radio that is somewhere in the room, panned to one side. That's not the result you're after.

I was reading a book on deejaying a few weeks ago, it said that (if you panned a sound) the higher freuencies would pan and the bass frequencies would not...
maybe it's because you 'feel' the bass, whereas you 'hear' the mids n' highs... but that's just my guess

Hi guys,
It depends on sound modulation.
Thanks
