It's a cool idea to break the record, but do mind that:
This site probably doesn't have 500 active users all the time.
About 20 of those users at the time were google bots and yahoo bots and whatnot bots indexing the site for better search results.

Hehe yeah the day we hit that 400+ users mark was the day the Yahoo search engine went crazy and started swamping the site with hundreds of bots.
There were probably like 10 real people online at that moment, the rest were Yahoo bots.
