I personally like my mixes to be a little more ruff as I like a more unified sound for what I do but I defiantly respect those who take the time to clean every little thing to perfection, im also guilty of picking keys that are not so kind to the drums and can cause masking at times but I kinda like it as I go for a more home/car listening style Listen not the next hot track at a club Woot

I keep it really clean (the second option). I like everything to be heard as clearly as possible, but I selected the second option because I might not be achieving this the best I can because I don't have studio quality monitors and headphones.

But I believe I'm doing a pretty good job.

my issue is im a playing musician so I like a almost live sound (and I play drums so acoustic drum n bass pwns in my book haha) and too to me that comes from having that masking and bleed but like I said I really respect people who can methodically sit there and clean it too perfection

I like to see cobwebs growing off of mine. Shakeshark

I tend to eq each device with its own eq if I think it's needs it.
Cut out all the low / high frequencies depending on what it is.

I play with the sound levels on each channel of the mixer too.

Remember even if you turn everything down, then there is always more headroom available for the track to go higher without ending up clipping / distorting or getting muddy sounds in the final mix. Wink

As for the spectrum I dunno - I haven't used an analyzer for ages.
So who kens what it actually looks like.
