what I know about the roots, are that the beats came from a 60's song (I think it was) the song had something with amen in It's name, thats why its called the amen beat.

The tune was by the winston brothers called Amen Brother... it was the b side of Colour him father and it was released in the late 60's

IDM/glitch/whatever is often said to be heavily influenced by DnB, and I think that's because the production methods are similar. I mean, you tend to chop up a break, and then just make ridiculous edits with or without effects - and some IDM/Glitch tunes sound more like some Drum and Bass or Drumfunk or Break tunes than others.
I think that Chipbreak or whatever might be influenced by it, but not necessarily a subgenre of Drum and Bass. With IDM and glitch type styles you can really do whatever the hell you want, there aren't any rules.
