somthin i never really been into gonna giv it a try tbh the only samples i really use r one shots 4 my drums, occasionally the odd fx.

read a couple of tuts on re-samplein , but wots the best editor to use i have cool edit, but i wanted sumfin integral to my DAW (fl 7) for the sake of work flow. edison is no good cos its great for editin iv used it loads but it cant apply effects.

and wots u usuall process? do a batch load savin as u go or 1/2 at a time loadin em straight to u sampler and start bangin out riffs.

i ve stayed away from workin with samples allways stuck 2 vst but im decidin thats how a lot of producors end up wiv sum really sik original sounds/tunes. your thoughts? cheers, gaz

There is no sample editor which is the "best", that depends on what you want to do with it. I use Audacity which is very similar to CoolEdit.

You are very vague about what you want.
- has to be integrated in FL7: that would mean Edison
- but "Edison is no good, even though it's great for editing" Confused What do you expect from a sample editor, apart from being great at editing?
- Edison can't apply effects: no, because a sample editor is not made for applying effects. Apply effects in the mixer using aux sends and inserts.

I only use audacity & cool edit pro for recording & chopping up samples - nothing more.

I'd have though you could make a sound you like in FL or using a vst, export to wav, import back into one of FL's samplers, further process/mangle to suit, export, re-import and so on until you get a unique sound you're happy with ... no !?

cool edits wicked for editing, never used to use it much, but i use it all the time. The way i resample is to edit in cool edit and then load the sample into fruity, add what effects you need to then bouncing, its also great for saving cpu

i really am a stranger to re samplein i know it the foundation of our music i have a friend who pioneered the drum nbass sound (or shud i say jungle techno, it was thenb)back in the early days along wiv ltj bukem ect all he know s is samplein he been out the game for years hes a brickie now i showed him fl studio he was like wow u can do all that on the cpu, lol anyway thought u mighnt find that interestin.

the only time i sampled my own sounds is 2 save cpu litulary bounce down the riff knock off the fx an link back 2 the same chanle spose i jus need 2 reapt that

i use cool edit a lot 4 cleanin up one shots and final midown /masterin n stuff u can apply effcts an plugin comaptable but not live as such i jus thought there wud be other edditors out there that cud host u vst an peep wud use soley the editor 4 re-samplein rather than u daw an an editor maybee it dont make a diff.

soz 4 the long post but u know wot b a gud idea if any 1 is down sum1 post a sound an we hav a go at re hashin it an see wott diff peep cum up with wud be interesstin 4 me anyway see wot can be atchived even if only 1 otha person up 4 it

you dont just need to re-sample to save on cpu (although it does help)....synths tend to add modulation to a sound, a sweeping lfo, sweeping filters etc.....resampling is good for 'capturing' a section of modulation applied to a sound via a vst....i.e. a synth like z3ta may add some modulation to the sound, its helpful then to re-sample that sound and capture that specific modulation, then enhance that further with effects; distortion, phasers, chorus, flangers, filters etc....
