Please check out my new track 'Stand Up Higher Than High- Jungle' and post your comments here!
hey all,
first tunage i'm posting here... been playing with FL Studio 8 for about 3-4 months now.
This is a very minimalist jungle track. Lately, I've been heavily inspired by the likes of Breakage, Jaydan, Acuna... Hopefully I'll be at they're level someday. Enjoy!

You seem to have used some extreme compression settings. The drums get pushed away from all the other stuff. In fact the compression in this tune seems to ruin it pretty much.
Good structure, nice sound selection although a bit too typical at times (dub siren).
For a first post this isn't bad at all though.

Way too much bass! And the excessive compression makes it sound horrible
The bass just pushes everything away, and the level is very unstable and erratical. Everything seems to jump like a rabbit on cocaine.
Try removing the compressor on the master and rebalance everything. My tip is to make sure none of the compressors ever exceed 3dB of gain reduction. You must be doing like 20dB or so, that's way too much.
Then make a new balance by just adjusting the volumes of each track:
- bass way down
- snare up
- hihats down
- all sound effects and vocal samples down, they should be in the background.
Then sit back and smile

Thanks for the input, man. I think crappy monitors coupled with a lack of mixing / mastering knowledge did me in. I'm def gonna remix and re-post it. I'm also wondering if the Amen sample i chose is a little over-the-top, and that's why there's that compression issue on the drums.
Would you mind reviewing it again when I repost?
Also, will probably take your advice on the dub siren.
thnx

Thanks for the honest review... haha!
I probably should have listened to it on better speakers before posting. my production set-up is pure crap right now. I've had this happen before where I've mixed everything down, thought it sounded good, then played it on a different system only to hear the bass destroy everything.
Def will be remixing and reposting this.
Plz re-review and let me know if its any better.

Ooh, I like the phasing filter on the tramen in the buildup.
Fuck mate, this is fuckin great!!! JUNGLE MASSIVE!! The drums are so fuckin hectic, they're killing me!!
Respect!
Although there's some variation in their loudness, sounds like some compressor is killing the sound, maybe you shouldn't make them this much dynamic in volume. Anyway, this took me to the old times.
Thanks.

Well, to begin with, this track is pretty nice overall. I didn't really like the buildup though, it seemed choppy and too fast to lead in to the main beat. It was rather predictable, but quite the original track. I like the pads a lot, they lift the mood quite well. This is quite awesome for FL Studio i must admit, especially for 3-4 months. You've got potential, keep making beats, keep composing music, keep bringing some Drum and Bass to LIFE. Great track. I think that i will give it a 7 out of 10. Keep working bro, you got this!

Thanks man!
Glad you dig. I am totally hooked on the jungle vibe right now. That's all i've been listening to non-stop.
I'll be remixing soon to try to do away with the variations, and i'll be reposting after that. Just waiting on some new monitors. ;p
def will have more tunage to come!

thanks for the input man.
I bought FL Studio on a whim. Kinda wish i woulda done my homework as I hear Reason is much better for dnb.
Anyways, glad you (somewhat) dug the tune. I may take your advice and redo the intro amen before the beat drops in. That might help.
Otherwise, I know its a pretty predictable, but sometimes that works, right? haha
more to come
