I have been listening for inspiration, and I find those nice choirs very nice. But I was wondering, how are they made, aside from doing them yourself?

Like B-Complex - Beautiful Lies. I don't think he just made someone record that for him, srsly. Maybe in The Yearning by Unknown Error? Aaah, Im so confused, how exacly is it done? A VST instrument? Because I have been looking for some of those..

At the end of the day, all I want it a female voice, which I can use to make a melody (Example).

When I just have a sample, and make a melody with it in P-Roll, all it does it pitching/slowing it down. So I would apreciate some help on this. Smile

Thanks! Big Grin

Sample some church gospel music whatsit Shakeshark

Any basic synth / VST(i) comes with choir pad presets.

You can make them yourself too if you learn some synthesis design (hint hint)

But they won't sound anywhere near as nice as live samples Wink

I know I'm not exactly saying much but you should have a wee gander on youtube too and see if you can find any nice videos for pad design.

Safe Smile

I have this VSTi called Choir Heaven - offers some parameters for the choir sound (I guess it utilizes recorded choir that you can alter with filters and similar).

The sound is something between aah and ooh. Doesn't offer other vowels, though if you go through the octaves, it changes between male and female choir.

Try it, I think it was a free plugin.

Record your own voice doing some Aaaaaah or Oooooh,
Use antares autotune to correct bad singing.
Add chorus and reverb, bounce, reprocess, repeat this several times and you have a choir.

Try turning down the record input volume in your audio settings or whatever program you record with.
Also some soundcards like my shitty internal one seems to have noise reduction as well as some other options.

Anyway a bit of background noise won't really matter as when you add vocals or anything to a track you usually don't hear the the static or whatever it is in the background.

Sound seems to change dramatically when you start adding stuff together. Smile

- Record at night if possible (less background noise)
- Don't record in the room where your pc is, you'll hear the fan+harddrive in the background.

find a film with a sweet choral score, the matrix film soundtracks have some nice scores with epic choir singing that are ripe for sampling, in fact pretty much anything cheesy and hollywood with have choirs in the score somewhere....or record a real choir.....

That can be EQ'd out of the sample usually. When I make samples of myself saying stuff I can low pass the sample and lose the hiss from my computer fan without affecting the words at all - after processing it doesn't even sound the same anyways. However if you're singing higher up towards the frequency range your fan is occupying (my voice is pretty deep anyhow) it might call for some surgical EQing to get things right.

Its better just to get the real thing imo.
