Religion is there for the dumb and the scared.
Unfortunately there are (and will always be) a substantial amount of such people on this planet. Some Germans thought they could solve that problem last century, but that wasn't a good way of dealing with it. Therefor the importance of education can't be stressed enough and please, keep religion out of the schools or include it in a mild and openminded form (I know that seems like a paradox).
One of the biggest mistakes that religion made is actively promote overpopulation
