Hey, I wanted to get some decks for christmas, could anyone offer any ideas of which make/model to get? I have never bought decks before, and I am looking for some under £250.
Also, what do you think would be better to buy, a midi keyboard with more controls than my last one, or a control surface?
Thanks!

You want turntables for vinyl and not CDJs, correct?

+1 for the novation stuff.
I have the remote SL37 and its wicked.
Oh and yeah... save up for the technics 1200's or 1210 they industry standard for a reason plus you'll never ever have to get another set of decks again.

Can I use any mixer or does it have to be a specific model to the turntables?

There are cheap packages in you budget, but i would deffinately save up for some 1210's, keep checking for second hand ones on ebay, theres some good deals if you wait and keep your eye out, you will need to save more than £250 for a pair though. my girlfriend got a pair of 1210's, a mixer and an all in one flight case for £400. just make sure that the person you are buying them off has good feedback and that you try them out before you exchange any money if you decide to go down the second hand route.

Yeah man turntables will run you a bit more than CDJs. If you're serious about DJing then you should definitely save your money for some quality turntables that will have longevity, instead of something that might break or that won't make you happy in six months.

yeh its wicked lol, on her mac atm wiv logic 8, bought her a cdj n vinyl last year for xmas, was like gettin 2 xmas presents lol. she wants clothes this year though
think i might have to through in some sample cd's though
shame she doesnt want a new amp for the decks, its in need of an update. On the subject of technics, i heard that they are discontinuing their turntables in feb 2010, is this true? Would be like the end of an era, the world is going digital
good job they last forever!!!
