I was wondering if there's a specific name for the drums linkin park and red uses typically at the beginning of their songs..sounds digital..but i cant find any samples of it..
I think the perfect example would be in "Session" by Linkin Park..it's an instrumental track from their Meteora album...I'm working on a song with Fruity Loops and I wanna use these drums..what are they? and samples, vsts? u guys might know of?
I was looking for the name so that i can find the samples but i found the name..i think it's called Idm breakcore..at least that the music that incorporates those drums..thanks for the help..still if anyone know any good plugins or sites where i can get samples that'll be great..
it isnt sound of the drums that make them "idm", its the arrangement. I heard it - theyre your classic sounding drums.. not trying to sound smart here but it really is true, its what you do with em that makes a difference

hes right....its any old sample pack with some distortion and Low Pass filtering and the IDM arrangement/sequencing
It's a break of some sort (could be samples from LP's drum kit), lots of distortion/saturation for the overall beef of the sound, but most of the edits are placement of samples and other FX like bitcrushing. I would recommend db Glitch to you once you find a break you like, play around with it and see what the different buttons do to the sound and it will help you develop a better understanding for what sort of things are taking place in Session by LP. Specifically the Crusher/Retrigger modules, you'll recognize immediately how those modules affect the sound.
