Nah, that ain't producing, that's a bloody game, like whats that thing, dance ejay?, or some crap, although i do remember 'playing around' with Music 2000 for a laugh back in the day.
Like Culture Boy said, download demo's and have a play to see what works best for you. FL Studio is one of the easiest to get to grips with visually for beginners, but just as good as other DAW's, Reason for example is not as easy to start using but headz who use it swear by it.
To be honest its a debate that still rages to this day, it really is as simple as if something sounds good then it doesnt matter what its produced on.
I suppose the 3 big players could be Reason, Fl Studio, Logic, although if anyone else names other DAW's then it proves my point that its personal taste rather then the DAW's power.
That said if you go buying anything like Music 2000 etc, essentially the music equivalent of Lego, then don't expect to learn the craft of Producing.
Good luck in choosing, remember download demos and have a play yourself..

the obvious difference between fl and reason is that fl looks like a computer program while reason is much easier to get into if you had any grips with hardware sound machines.

i wouldnt really recomend logic as a starting daw. its a pretty complicated sequencer and as a result you will probably find yourself being constantly frustrated at not being able to achieve simple tasks in the speed you would like. i would advise either fl or reason tbh both of which are really powerfull and really usable. they are generally the same difficulty wise and really quick to pick up and get going. but as has been mentioned try before you buy, get the demos and see what works for yo

What's so confusing about it? I found it pretty straightforward when I switched from fl.

I tried reaper, and it is confusing for me, too.

Many people have said the same about fl and reason, so I really don't see the point you're all trying to raise.
IMO we should simply let the OP decide what's too confusing for him, instead of telling him.

You were saying you found it pretty straightforward when you switched, I said I didn't find the same. What's the problem?
I didn't said he shouldn't try the program. I believe he should try all of them.
