WOW!
Just listened to some of the tracks that people post up here. all the first three were siiiiick, i mean make you slap your grandmother sick.
I am hoping to get a lot from this site,
the question for me at the moment is how do i get my drum loops sounding sick sick sick sick, is compression a wise move. what's the story on this. any standard tips and tricks. must do's if you like?
The advice from Cynik is spot on.
Compression is a good idea, but not overdoing it with compression is an even better idea.
Slight distortion can help too, just read the making breaks from single hits tutorial for starters, even if you don't use FL studio and even if you aren't making your beats from single hits it will be helpful.

__ Check my soundcloud (exclusive tracks on there)
-Use High Quality Samples
-Use Slight Distortion and Saturation
-Process and EQ INDIVIDUAL drum hits
-Mix everything as you go along
-Use breaks that you cut up to make sick
-Use submixes
like every one has said using good samples is great advise, sample cds are a wicked source for good quality hits, if you live in england magazines such as future music, computer music, music tech come with sample cd's and you can also buy back issues on their websites for dnb specific issues. On compression, if you are fairly new to production my advise would be to leave compression or at least use it wisely as over compression can ruin your tunes. if you havent got any monitors then i would deffinately invest in some. i have just upgraded mine and when working on tunes which i started before i got my new monitors i have had to so much work to get the beats sounding good enough to make you wanna slap your gran lol
